Today's winner is St. Louis over Philadelphia. This is my MLB Best Bet Play.

St. Louis has won 14 of their L20 to bring the team only 5 GB in the NL Central and just 2 1/2 behind in the WC race. Their offense ranks 2nd in the Majors in both RPG (4.92) and BA (.276). The lineup is chock-full of .300 hitters and possesses true power with a total of 122 HRs. Kyle Lohse takes the mound today. The RH is 12-2 with a 2.79 ERA this season, including a 6-1 road record. He faces a Philadelphia squad that is 5-7 their L12 and is dead-last in the NL East at 50-61 overall. Injuries and inconsistency has hampered the 21st ranked scoring offense (4.14 RPG). For a team that boasts several top tier pitchers, they still have a 4.11 team ERA. Roy Halladay gets the nod here. The RH is 5-6 with a 4.02 mark and looks like he is headed for his lowest wins total in years. There is a lot of baseball still left, but I look for Philly to be slowly leaking from now thru September. The Cardinals are 4-1 their L5 games played at the Phillies, 20-8 their L28 games played vs. teams with a losing record, and 24-8 in Lohse's L32 starts against teams with a losing record. The Phillies are 6-14 their L20 games played following a loss, 13-28 their L41 games played vs. teams with a winning record, and 2-6 in Halladay's L8 starts against team with a winning mark. Take St. Louis. Thank you.
