4* Twins/Pirates MLB Grand Slam: Pirates -122
The Pirates (35-31) have won 3 in a row and are just 2.5-games out of first place in the NL Central. For whatever reason, this team continues to fly under the radar. With their win over the Twins last night, they are now 20-11 at home.
Pittsburgh will send out Erik Bedard, who is just 4-7 with a 4.36 ERA in 13 starts. However, if you just look at his starts at home, he is 2-2 with an impressive 2.45 ERA. For whatever reason, Bedard is a completely different pitcher at PNC Park.
Minnesota will counter with Francisco Liriano, who has been all over the place in 2012. He has made a few good starts, but for the most part he has struggled, especially on the road. Liriano is 0-5 with a 7.94 ERA and 1.898 in five road starts.
While Pittsburgh is motivated to stay in the division race, Minnesota is 26-40 overall. They have lost five of their last six overall, and I think it's hard for a team that is struggling to get motivated to play a team like the Pirates.
Pittsburgh is 9-1 in their last 10 home games vs. a left-handed starter, 8-2 in their last 10 interleague games as a favorite, and 6-0 in their last 6 games as a home favorite of -110 to -150. BET THE PIRATES!
