Joe D'Amico's MLB AL Game of the Week
Seattle vs. Chi White Sox,
06/01/2012 20:10 EDT,
Score: 4 - 7
Money Line: -121 Chi White Sox
Today's winner is Chicago over Seattle. This is my AL Game of the Week.
Granted, Seattle has scored 31 runs in their past two outings, but they haven't had to face the quality of pitching like they will be today. The Mariners dropped their previous five games prior to the L2 contests. The team ranks in the bottom half of the Majors in most offensive categories, including 27th in BA (.234). The lineup does not possess a single batter near a .300 average. Even the teams perennial BA leader, Ichiro Suzuki is dwelling at .271. Felix Hernandez takes the mound today. The RH is 4-4 on the season, losing three of his last four starts and allowing 15runs in those three defeats. Hernandez is 3-4 lifetime vs. Chicago. The White Sox are averaging 5.16 RPG at home this season and have belted 62 HRs, including at least 1 round-tripper in 15 of their L16 games. Paul Konerko has been on-fire, batting .381, with 67 hits, and 11 HRs. The 1B is one of three in the lineup with DD long balls (Pierzynski 11 and Dunn 16). The teams wins leader, Jake Peavy gets the nod today. The RH is 6-1 with a 3.07 mark on the season. The ex- Cy Young winner has a 5-1, 2.12 career record against Seattle. The Mariners are 8-29 their L37 games played at the White Sox, 27-55 their L82 games played vs. teams with a winning record, and 1-5 in Hernandez's L5 starts vs. the White Sox. The White Sox are 16-5 their L21 games played overall, 5-0 their L5 games played at home, and 8-3 in Peavy's L11 starts. Take Chicago. Thank you.
