4* EARLY BIRD BIG TEN BOOKIE BEATDOWN
Michigan State vs. Purdue,
02/19/2012 13:00 EDT,
Score: 76 - 62
Point Spread: -5/-102 Michigan State
With Ohio State losing at Michigan last night, Michigan State has an opportunity to take over sole possession of first place in the Big 10 conference. That's something I expect to be very important to head coach Tom Izzo and his players. A motivated Spartans club will take on a Purdue bunch that they beat 83-58 at home back on Jan. 21. They catch Purdue in a great spot here, as the Boilermakers have recently dismissed junior guard Kelsey Barlow and suspended junior guard/forward D.J. Byrd, who each average around 8 points a game.
I expect Purdue to still come out and play inspired basketball, but I have no problem laying just 5-points in this situation. Michigan State is simply the better team. It's also worth noting that the Boilermakers have had some bad performances at home in the Big Ten, losing to Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Michigan State is 10-3 ATS against conference opponents this season. In their last game they beat Wisconsin at home by 14-points. The Spartans are 11-4 ATS after a win by 10 points or more this season. BET MICHIGAN STATE!
