4* Seahawks/Texans No Doubt ATS Annihilator

---Seattle Seahawks -1---

The Seahawks have certainly looked the part as a legit Super Bowl contender. You have to give this team a lot of credit for their recent 45-17 win over the Jaguars. It would have been extremely easy for them to come out an lay an egg after that beatdown of division rival San Francisco on Sunday Night Football. If this team is going to get up for a cupcake win against Jacksonville, there’s no doubt they will come to play against the Texans.

The Texans were a bit unlucky in their recent loss to the Ravens, as a couple of non-offensive touchdown put them in an early hole that didn’t allow them to execute their game plan of running the football. However, Houston was fortunate to win their first two games. They had to rally from a 21-point deficit in the second half against the Chargers in Week 1 and 4th quarter comeback and overtime to beat the Texans at home in Week 2.

Offensively the Texans are not anywhere close to where they need to be. Arian Foster has just 190 yards with one rushing touchdown and hasn’t been a factor like we are use to seeing in the passing game (8 catches for 37 yards). Matt Shaub has played well at times, but he’s thrown more interceptions (4) than games played. There’s little reason to believe the Texans will get it figured out against the Seahawks. Seattle ranks 12th in the league against the run (95.0 ypg) and 1st against the pass (146.7 ypg).

The thing that has really stuck out to me is the Texans struggles early in games offensively. That’s not a good sign and it actually has Houston falling into system where we should fade them this week. Home teams with a line of +3 to -3 that are being outscored by 5+ ppg in the first half after a game where they finished with 14 points or less are just 7-27 ATS over the last 5 seasons. That’s a 79.4% system in favor of the Seahawks covering.

Houston’s defense has looked good, but we have seen this team struggle against top quarterbacks. Philip Rivers threw for 4 touchdowns in the opener and Joe Flacco completed 16 of 24 for 171 yards. You might be saying to yourself 171 yards isn’t impressive. With Baltimore in complete control of the game there was no reason for Flacco to keep throwing. Russell Wilson is more than capable of carving up this secondary. BET THE SEAHAWKS!
