7* Wednesday MLB MIA/PHI
Philadelphia vs. Miami,
09/25/2013 19:10 EDT,
Score: 2 - 3
Money Line: -149 Philadelphia
The Miami Marlins host the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday in game two of a three-game set.
The Marlins send out Brad Hand for this contest. He’s been dreadful as a starter in his career, posting a 1-10 career record when getting the nod, with a 5.06 ERA.
Don’t expect much help from a Marlins lineup that is painfully thin right now, posting a 5-13 record over their previous 18 games entering Tuesday’s action.
Hand will also have a tough time facing a Phillies lineup that has had little trouble with left-handed starting pitchers of late, winning each of their last six games against left-handed starters.
Cole Hamels counters for the Phillies. Hamels looked like he would be a tough-luck loser for most of the season, but he’s battled through tough times and is now coming out on the winning end of a lot of his starts.
Hamels has improved his record to 8-14, and has played the Marlins well this season, posting a 2.00 ERA against them.
The Phillies have responded well after failing to provide Hamels much run support in the early part of the season, providing enough offense to win seven of his last eight starts.
The Marlins are 0-7 in Hand’s last seven starts.
