The New York Yankees host the San Francisco Giants on Friday in game one of a three-game set.
Only one of these teams remains in the playoff hunt, and it isn’t the Giants. They’ve had a lot of trouble scoring runs this season.
Of late, the Giants have upped their winning percentage, which has a lot of bettors eager to get behind them, but they’ve built up their record on the back of a soft schedule, beating up on National League West opponents.
C.C. Sabathia gets the nod for the Yankees in this one. The tale of the tape on him hasn’t been great this season, but he should be able to put forth a good outing against a soft-hitting Giant lineup.
The Yankees are 11-2 in Sabathia’s last 13 interleague starts.
Time Lincecum counters for the Giants. Lincecum has a good winning streak going, but he’s been able to build that up thanks to strong run support – he’s received 11.7 runs of support on average over his last three outings.
In those three starts, he’s posted a very pedestrian 4.58 ERA. Expect him to have trouble with a good Yankee lineup.
The Yankees are 14-5 in their last 19 home games.
Take New York.
