9* Saturday MLB MIA/WSH
Washington vs. Miami,
07/13/2013 19:15 EDT,
Score: 1 - 2
Money Line: -122 Miami
The Miami Marlins host the Washington Nationals on Saturday in game two of a three-game set. Miami won game one in the series on Friday, 8-3.
It didn’t seem like it at the start of the season, but we knew there would be times when the lowly Marlins would be worthy of a pick, and we’re happy to get behind them on this occasion.
Jose Fernandez gets the nod for the Marlins in this one. He’s been outstanding in his rookie campaign for the Fish, posting a 2.83 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP and .194 BAA.
Not surprisingly, he’s been even better at home, where he is 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and .172 BAA.
The Marlins are 4-0 in Fernandez’s last four home starts, and they are 5-1 in his last six starts versus National League East opponents.
The Nationals counter with Dan Haren. Things haven’t gone well for Haren in his first year with the Nats. On the season he’s posted a 6.00 ERA.
Haren has already faced the Marlins once this year, allowing seven runs over 4 1/3 innings of work.
The Nationals are 0-9 in Haren’s last nine starts overall, and 0-6 in his last six road starts.
Good Luck, Razor Ray.
