Today's winner is Tampa Bay on the RUN LINE over Minnesota. This is my MLB Run Line Game of the Month.
Tampa Bay has been on-fire this month, boasting an 8-1 record, outscoring opponents by 36 runs in those victories. The Rays now sit in 2nd place in the AL East, 3 1/2 GB the Red Sox. Overall, the team has taken 10 of their L11 contests. The squad ranks in the Top-10 in just about every offensive category. Four sluggers are averaging more than a hit a game while eight batters each have 30 or more RBIs. Lest not forget that Loney, Longoria, Jennings, Joyce, and Johnson have combined for 62 of the lineups 101 HRs. Jeremy Hellickson takes the mound here. The RH is 6-1 since June 1st and has allowed a mere four runs in 26 IP, over his L4 starts, winning all four outings. The 26 year-old has a lifetime record of 3-1 against Minnesota. The Twins are 1-9 their L10, being outscored by 3.55 RPG in those losses. They are also winless in the L7 meetings with the Rays, going back to April of last year (with all the losses by 2 or more runs). On the rare occasion that the offense can muster some scoring, then the pitching staff seems to give the game away. Kevin Correia gets the start today. The RH is 6-6 on the season, with only 1 win in his L7 starts. Overall, the 32 year-old has pitched 105.1 innings, yielding 124 hits. The Rays are 4-0 their L4 games vs. RH starters, 6-1 in Hellicksons L7 home starts, 7-0 their L7 games played at home, and 7-0 their L7 vs. the AL Central. The Twins are 0-4 their L4 games played at the Rays, 7-19 their L26 games vs. the Rays, 1-6 their L7 games played on the road, and 28-71 their L99 games played against the AL East. Take Tampa Bay on the RUN LINE. Thank you.
