Joe D'Amico's MLB Game of the Week
Atlanta vs. Philadelphia,
07/07/2013 13:35 EDT,
Score: 3 - 7
Money Line: -127 Atlanta
Today's winner is Atlanta over Philadelphia. This is my MLB Game of the Week.
The Atlanta Braves bats have been red-hot, scoring eleven or more runs in three of their last seven games including a 13-4 thumping over Philadelphia Saturday. Yesterdays win was the Braves fifth in the last seven meetings over the Phillies, dating back to a season ago. 2B, Dan Uggla has homered in both games this series to bring his career home run mark up to 28 against Philly. C, Brian McCann is 16-for-28 during his current seven-game hitting streak. The lineup boasts four batters each with 75 or more hits and four sluggers each with DDs in Home Runs. Overall, the offense ranks third in the League in the long-ball with 107 round-trippers. They also have the #2 ranked pitching staff with a 3.25 ERA. Kris Medlen start today. The RH has won three straight starts and five of his last six. He faces a Philadelphia team that is 24th in scoring at 3.90 RPG. Ryan Howard is out with a knee injury. His absence will obviously add to the worries of a lineup that doesn't possess a single .300 hitter. Inconsistency has plagued the offense all season long. They have Jonathan Pettibon throwing here. The RH has just one win since May 14th. The rookie went eight straight starts with three losses and a no-decision before getting a win in his last outing. The Braves are 8-3 the L11 games played at the Phillies. Take Atlanta. Thank you.
