Cubs vs. Mariners Under 7
Contrary to popular opinion, it hasn’t been King Felix who has been the Seattle Mariners top pitcher this year. It has been tonight’s starter, Hisashi Iwakuma.
Iwakuma has had quality starts in all but one game so far this year. He has an amazing 1.41 ERA at home on the season.
The Chicago Cubs lineup is very weak, and they are without solid leadoff hitter David DeJesus. Outside of Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo, there aren’t many guys to fear in this lineup.
Iwakuma has dominated at home, and I see no reason that he won’t do the same again tonight.
Travis Wood pitches tonight for the Cubs. Wood has been one of the most underrated pitchers in baseball this year, primarily due to the fact that Chicago simply cannot score when he pitches. He has a 2.85 ERA, but somehow has a losing record.
The Mariners don’t have a good history against left-handed starting pitchers. Wood is great at hitting the corners and making you hit his pitch.
Seattle doesn’t have the patient lineup it normally takes to put up runs against a quality lefty like Travis Wood.
The under is 6-0 in the Mariners last 6 games against a starter with a WHIP of less than 1.15. The under is 5-0 in the Mariners last 5 as a home favorite. The under is 5-0-1 in Wood’s last 6 starts as an underdog.
This one has 2-1 or 3-2 written all over it. Take the under.
Good Luck, Razor Ray.
