Today's winner is Pittsburgh over Detroit. This is my 'DOG DREAM of all Dreams.
At 31-19, Pitt boasts one of the best records in the League, tied with Cincy, at a game and a half back of St. Louis in the Central. The Bucs have won 13 of their L16, including a 5-1 mark their L6 away from home. Andrew McCutchen is batting .352 in the Month of May, crushing the ball for 7 multi-hit performances in the L9 games. The offense has lit up opposing pitchers, scoring 5 or more runs in seven of their 13 wins in that 16 game span. Along with their offensive surge, the Pirates rank 2nd in Team ERA at 3.23, 1st in BA Allowed at .223, and fanned a whopping 408 batters. Francisco Liriano gets the start. The LH is 3-0 with a 1.00 ERA this season. Detroit just took 3 of 4 over the last place Milwaukee squad. Their lineup is tops in the Majors in both scoring (5.40 RPG) and Team BA (.284). They send Justin Verlander to the bump. The RH is 5-4 with a 3.66 mark on the season. However, over his L3 starts, he was shellacked, going 1-2 with an ERA of 11.43 in only 12 2/3 IP. Pitt is 10-1 their L11 games played vs. RH starters, 9-3 their L12 vs. the AL Central, and 5-1 their L6 games as a 'dog. Take Pittsburgh. Thank you.
