LA Angels vs. Oakland,
04/29/2013 22:05 EDT,
Score: 8 - 10
Money Line: -126 Oakland
The Los Angeles Angels have a much more talented lineup than the Oakland Athletics do, but the Angels hitters just haven’t put it together so far this year.
Los Angeles is a miserable 3-9 on the road so far this year.
Oakland was on a bad run until yesterday’s big win over the Orioles. I think that is likely to jumpstart the A’s once again. Oakland’s true strength is in their pitching staff.
Dan Straily starts in this one, and you could make a good argument that he might have the highest upside of any of Oakland’s young pitchers. Straily has a great arm and tremendous control for a youngster.
Tommy Hanson gets the ball for the Angels in this one, and he has become very inconsistent in the last year or so. He was torched by the lowly Astros a couple starts ago, and it has been 10 days since his last start.
Los Angeles is 1-8 in their last 9 road games against a right-handed pitcher. The Athletics are 6-2 in Straily’s last 8 starts. Oakland is 48-23 in their last 71 home games.
The Angels continue to get too much respect from the oddsmakers. Take Oakland.
Good Luck, Razor Ray.
