Washington & Cincinnati over 8
The Washington Nationals host the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday in game three of a four-game set. Washington won game two in the series on Friday, 1-0.
Neither side could get anything going offensively on Friday as a pair of solid pitchers did battle, but expect those bats to come back to life on Saturday in a matchup between struggling starters.
Dan Haren gets the nod for the Nationals in this one, and his struggles have been well documented. Haren’s 7.36 ERA and 1.96 WHIP have experts wondering why the Nationals brought him and his big fat contract to Washington in the first place.
Things haven’t gone well for Haren when he’s faced the Reds as he has a 5.26 ERA against them.
The over is 5-0 in Mike Leake’s last five starts, including 3-0 this season. Combined with Haren, the over is 7-1 in their starts this season.
Leake opposes Haren in this game, and don’t expect him to find much success against the Nationals. Leake has posted an 8.80 ERA in three starts versus the Washington over the last two seasons, with each of those games playing over the total.
The over is 5-1 in the last six meetings between these teams. Take the OVER.
Good Luck, Razor Ray
