Houston/Boston Under 9
The Houston Astros arguably have the worst offense in baseball. Houston is averaging 4.09 runs per game this year, but that number is inflated due to two games (10 runs and 16 runs against Seattle) earlier in the year. This offense is going to struggle to score runs all year.
Ryan Dempster has looked very solid for Boston so far this year.
Dempster is one of those guys who battles and battles and almost always gives you a quality start. He has a 3.38 ERA so far this year. I don’t expect Houston to do much damage at all against Dempster.
Erik Bedard is a very inconsistent starting pitcher, but he has had a lot of success against the Boston Red Sox in the past.
Almost everyone with a real history against Bedard on Boston’s roster has struggled against him.
The weather conditions here aren’t going to be particularly favorable for a high scoring game. By the end of the game it is expected to be in the upper 40’s, and the wind will be blowing in toward home plate throughout the game.
Look for two solid pitching performances in this contest. Take the under.
Good Luck, Razor Ray.
