4* Heavy Hitter on Minnesota Twins
Texas vs. Minnesota,
04/25/2013 20:10 EDT,
Score: 2 - 1
Money Line: -102 Minnesota
The numbers do not tell the full story in this matchup which makes Minnesota a strong value play today. Vance Worley may have had a tough start to the season but he is coming off a solid no decision performance against the White Sox in which he gave up just one earned run in 7 innings pitched. Worley also had 7 strikeouts in that game giving up 5 hits. The Rangers have given the nod to Nick Tepesch for today’s game. Tepesch went just 1.7 innings in his last game before going down with an injury. He was hit with a line drive just above his wrist and the Rangers opted to pull him as he had already given up two hits and did not look good when throwing a few warm up pitches after the play. Coming off an injury like that just five days later is difficult enough and now he has to face a Twins offense that has averaged 5 runs per game at home on the season. The Twins are a hot team having won five of their last six games. With Minnesota playing at home and getting a day of rest after their series with Miami they are the smart play for today’s game. Texas is playing in their now fourth consecutive road game and traveling from Los Angeles last night without any rest before today’s matchup.
