There has been quite an overreaction to the rash of injuries that the Yankees have suffered prior to this season. Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Curtis Granderson, and Mark Teixeira are all missing for the Pinstripes, but this line has been overadjusted.
The Red Sox are coming off of a 69-93 season, finishing last in the AL East for the first time since 1992. They too will be without a familiar face in the lineup as David Ortiz and his .400 OBP start the year on the disabled list.
Dating back to last season, Boston is just 13-41 in their last 54 games as an underdog. They were also an abomination on the road, finishing the season with only 7 wins in their last 28 games away from home.
To make matters worse, they really struggled with top tier pitchers last year. The BoSox are a measly 4-17 in their last 21 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.
As for the Yankees, they're an outstanding 43-15 in CC Sabathia's last 58 starts as a home favorite.
With a pitching edge and a big home-field advantage, we look for the Yankees to start 2013 on a winning note at a very favorable price.
Good luck, Razor Ray
