6* Sunday NHL WAS/NYR
Washington vs. NY Rangers,
02/17/2013 18:00 EDT,
Score: 1 - 2
Money Line: +142 Washington
The New York Rangers host the Washington Capitals on Sunday. The Rangers are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders, while the Capitals beat the Lightning their last time out, 4-3.
A slow start for the Capitals has given way to a three-game winning streak. The Capitals were slow out of the gate, in large part due to the quick start to the season which gave new head coach Adam Oates little time to put his systems in place.
Now the team is starting to roll, scoring 15 times in their last three games, all wins. The Capitals will bring some added motivation to this contest after getting eliminated by the Rangers in last year’s playoffs.
There’s some trouble brewing in New York, as head coach John Tortorella benched top line center Brad Richards in the team’s last game against the Islanders. The Rangers have had trouble repeating the defensive effort that propelled the team to the top spot in the Eastern Conference a year ago.
The team allowed 71 shots on goal in their last two outings, leading to six goals against.
The Capitals are 4-2 in their last six regular season trips to Madison Square Garden. Take Washington.
Good Luck, Razor Ray
