Prior to last season’s upset loss, Ohio had won three in a row in the series. It has also won its last two at Ball State. In addition, it is worth noting that Ohio has either won or lost by three points or less in six straight and eight of the last nine meetings. With this in mind, I'm not hesitating to pull the trigger on the Bobcats.

Ball State has an explosive offense, but it is one of the worst defensive teams in the country. It ranks 110th in total defense with 471.3 yards allowed per game and 96th in scoring with 32.7 points allowed per game. Its run defense, which ranks 110th in the nation with 213.6 yards allowed per game, is in serious trouble tonight. That’s because Ohio has one of the top rushing attacks in all of college football. The Bobcats rank 27th in rushing with 208.6 yards per game. Overall, they rank a respectable 37th in total offense with 440.4 yards per game and 38th in scoring with 33.4 points per game.

Ohio is the far superior defensive team It ranks 47th in total defense with 377.5 yards allowed per game and 36th in scoring defense with 22.8 points allowed per contest.

The Bobcats are on a 5-1 ATS run versus teams that have a winning record. The Cardinals are on a 1-5 ATS slide in home games versus teams that have a winning mark on the road. The Cardinals have failed to cover the number in 16 of their last 22 home games overall.
