The underdogs were able to carve-out a slight 7-6 edge against the spread in Week 9 of the NFL regular season with Minnesota and Tampa Bay covering with the points in a tight straight-up loss. For the fourth week in a row, the OVER had the advantage against the UNDER on the total line. This past week, nine of the 13 games went OVER the closing line. Each and every week of the season NFL Betting Trends will dig a bit deeper into the numbers for a few of the bigger matchups on the schedule to give you the inside edge when it comes to wagering on the games. The Seattle Seahawks continue to win games SU and are now holding the best record in the NFC at 8-1. However, they have not been a good team to wager on as of late with a 1-4 record ATS in their last five games. This Sunday they will be on the road against a floundering Atlanta Falcons team that is currently 2-6 on the year both SU and ATS after getting crushed by Carolina 34-10 this past Sunday. The Seahawks have been opened as 6.5-point favorites with the total set at 44.5.

The AFC North used to be one of the most competitive divisions in the league, but at 6-2 the Cincinnati Bengals are in perfect position to add to their lead when they invade M&T Stadium to tangle with the 3-5 Baltimore Ravens. The defending Super Bowl Champs took another step towards missing the postseason altogether this year with a 24-18 loss to Cleveland as one-point road favorites this past Sunday. The Bengals have been opened as 1.5-point road favorites for this contest with the total set at 44.5.

The best matchup of the day could be a 4:05 p.m. (ET) NFC clash between the surging Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers. The 5-3 Panthers head into this game riding a four-game winning streak in which they have scored 30 or more points in each outing. The 49ers went into last week’s bye with a five-game winning streak after a sketchy 1-2 start. Carolina has covered the spread in all four of its wins and San Francisco is a perfect 5-0 ATS in its impressive run. The 49ers have been opened as 6.5-point home favorites for this contest with the total set at 42.

Many experts have Denver ranked as the top team in the NFL despite the fact that it is a game and half back in its division at 7-1. The Broncos will be back in action this week after a bye to take on 4-4 San Diego in an AFC West matchup. Denver continues to lead the NFL in scoring with an average of 42.9 points a game and despite the ridiculously high total lines for its first eight games, each one of them has gone OVER. The Broncos have not been nearly that predictable ATS with a record of 4-3-1. The Chargers are 5-2-1 ATS this season and they have been opened as seven-point home underdogs for this Sunday’s game. The total for this division clash has been set at 57.

This Sunday night, the 5-4 Dallas Cowboys will try and win back-to-back games for just the second time this season with a trip to the Big Easy to face the 6-2 SU New Orleans Saints. The Cowboys are lucky to even be over .500 after squeezing-out a last second 27-23 victory over Minnesota as a prohibitive 10.5-point home favorite, while the Saints are coming off a stunning 26-20 loss to the New York Jets as six-point road favorites. New Orleans has been opened as a seven-point favorite for Sunday night with the total set at 52.5.
