There was a bit of a shakeup in the BCS top five this past week despite only one loss by a top-five team. Alabama remained at the top of the heap with a routine 45-10 rout of Tennessee as a 28-point home favorite, but Florida State fell to No. 3 despite a dominating 49-17 victory over North Carolina State as a 35-point home favorite. In the Seminoles place at No. 2 is the Oregon Ducks, who moved up after knocking off UCLA 42-14 as 24-point favorites at home. Stanford moved into the top five at No. 5 as a one-loss team with a 20-12 win over Oregon State as a four-point road favorite. The Cardinal took Missouri’s spot after the Tigers fell from the ranks of the unbeaten with a tough 27-24 loss to South Carolina as three-point home favorites.

Turning to this week’s slate of games, the first big showdown that jumps off the page is a Big Ten clash between No. 21 Michigan vs. No. 22 Michigan State in one of the most time-honored rivalries in college football. The Spartans lost to Michigan 12-10 last season as 8.5-point road underdogs after posting four straight victories over their rivals. They have been opened as 4.5-point home favorites by 5Dimes for this year’s contest. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast nationally on ABC.

Another battle between ranked teams takes us to the Big 12 where the No. 18 Oklahoma State Cowboys will be on the road against the No. 15 Texas Tech Red Raiders as 1.5-point underdogs. The Cowboys are 6-1 SU (4-3 against the spread) this season and Texas Tech is coming off its first loss of the year after seven straight wins. It lost to No.10 Oklahoma 38-30 as a seven-point road underdog to fall to 5-3 ATS. Oklahoma State has won the last four meetings between these two both SU and ATS. This game is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. and it will be broadcast on FOX.

The biggest game of Week 10 is a huge ACC tilt between No. 7 Miami and No. 3 Florida State in what should be a preview of this year’s conference championship game. The Hurricanes come in at 7-0 SU (4-3 ATS) overall and 3-0 SU in conference play which has them at the top of the standings in the Coastal Division. The Seminoles are 7-0 SU (5-2 ATS) as well and 5-0 in ACC play in the Atlantic Division. Florida State has won three of the last four meetings SU with Miami holding a 3-1 edge ATS. The Seminoles have been opened as 22-point home favorites for this Saturday night’s contest. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. and the game will broadcast on ABC.

A few games involving some of the other top teams in the country starts off with a high noon matchup in the Big Ten between No. 4 Ohio State and Purdue. The Buckeyes have been opened as 31-point home favorites. No. 8 Clemson will be on the road as a 17-point favorite against Virginia and No. 9 Missouri will be playing host to Tennessee as a 13-point favorite. The rest of the top 10 are taking the week off.
