The underdogs carved-out a slight 8-7 edge over the favorites last week in the NFL on the strength of five teams covering with the points. Overall scoring was higher than expected with nine of the 15 games on the Week 6 slate going OVER the closing total line. To get you ready for each and every week of the season, NFL Betting Trends will dig a bit deeper into the numbers for a few of the bigger matchups on the schedule. All betting lines and odds quoted have been provided by 5Dimes.

Week 7 in the NFL kicks things off with a Thursday night clash in the NFC West between the 5-1 Seattle Seahawks and the 3-3 Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are listed as 6.5-point road favorites with the total set at 40. They come in at 4-2 against the spread against a Cardinals’ team that has covered in four of their first six games as well.

Another big division showdown in Sunday’s early games pits the 3-3 Dallas Cowboys against the 3-3 Philadelphia Eagles for the outright lead in the NFC East. The Cowboys are a profitable 5-1 ATS this season, while the total has gone OVER in five of the Eagles first six games. Philadelphia has been listed as a 2.5-point home favorite in this heated division rivalry with the total set at 55.

Later in the day, the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers will renew one of the most heated rivalries in the NFL. This time around both teams come into this showdown in desperate need of a win to keep pace in the crowded AFC North title race. The Ravens fell to 3-3 both SU and ATS with last Sunday’s 19-9 loss to Green Bay while the Steelers posted their first win of the season against four previous losses with a 19-6 victory over the New York Jets. Pittsburgh is also 1-4 ATS and it has been listed as a slight one-point home favorite for this Sunday’s game. The total for this contest has been set at 41.

The most anticipated game on the NFL Week 7 schedule sends 6-0 Denver on the road to 4-2 Indianapolis in what will be Peyton Manning’s return to a place where he spent the first 14 years of his storied NFL career. The Broncos have breezed through their first six games by outscoring their opponents by a combined 107 points, but they are just 3-2-1 ATS. The total has gone OVER in all six games. The Colts are 3-3 ATS this season with the total staying UNDER in four of their first six games. The current line for this game has Denver favored by seven points on the road with the total set at 55.5.

Monday Night Football features another two teams that are in desperate need of a win after combining for a record of just 1-10 through the first six weeks of the NFL season. The 1-4 Minnesota Vikings will travel east to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to square-off against the winless Giants. These are two of the most surprising starts in the league considering that both teams finished last season with a winning record. The Vikings are 2-3 ATS with the total going OVER in all five games, while New York comes in with a 1-5 record ATS with the total going OVER in four of six games. The Giants are favored by 3.5 points to get their first win of the year and the total for this game has been set at 46.5.
