Undefeated Stanford Cardinal heads to Seattle this weekend to take on the Washington State Cougars.  Stanford comes in ranked at #5 in the nation, having secured a solid conference win over #23 Arizona State last weekend.  The Cougars have won three in a row and will have the advantage of playing in their home state.  Some bettors are likely wondering which team is the odds on favorite to win this contest.

Stanford is 7-1 over the last 8 games against the Cougars, but they did almost lose a close matchup last year.  Many are thinking that this may be the year that the Cougars can upend the Cardinal.  This could be a classic trap game, since Stanford may not be anticipating the Cougars being a major threat.  Though they lost their home opener against Auburn, they have been performing well since then.  Washington State was able to narrowly defeat USC during one of those games, with the final score tallying 10-7.

If you take a look at their statistics so far this year, the teams are fairly evenly matched.  Stanford comes in with a good looking defense, holding teams to an average of 20.3 points per game.  But their offense hasn't looked quite as sharp, ranking 93rd overall in total passing yards per game.  The Cougars have had a great defensive effort so far, holding their opponents to just 12 points overall per game.  They are also racking up 328 passing yards per game, which ranks them at 16th overall.

Expect this to be a close matchup, with both sides testing each other early in the game.  There are a number of people expecting Washington State to pull off an upset, but that may not happen.  Stanford is still the odds on favorite to win the game this weekend.  You can expect them to have a roughly +3 advantage for the point spread.
